The Wallace Monument Stirling, Scotland

The Wallace Monument resides just outisde of Stirling city center in the picturesque town of Bridge of Allan. The Wallace Monument receeived great international exposure due to the success of the film 'Braveheart', starring Mel Gibson. The film may have been factually inaccurate and filmed partially in Ireland but a statue of Wallace, which bears more than a passing resemblance to Gibson, is located at the foot of the Wallace Monument.

Regular guided tours may help to dispel some of the myths and misunderstandings. A gift store is also available and offers a wide range of books about the history of Scotland and Stirling, other famous figures, famous Scottish Battles, folklore, myths, legends, attractions and beautiful scenery.

The University of Stirling

The Univeristy of Stirling is only a quick hike from the Wallace Monument, which houses the Dermia Offices. The University is famous for its glorious campus set at the foot of the Ochil hills. The Stirling University campus has often been voted one of the most beautiful University Campuses in Europe. The Campus grounds feature a loch, a golf course and a state of the art Sports Complex.
